Andamooka, South Australia.

The Andamooka Community Support Service is co-located with the Andamooka Clinic and serves the community situated in the opal fields some 500-600kms from Adelaide.

In 1995, an Aged Care Advisory Committee was formed by the nursing staff to survey the needs of the ageing popuation in Andamooka and indicated a need for expansion of existing services, particularly to support elderly single men in the community. A HACC funding application was completed and approved in 1996 and the Andamooka Community Support Service was established. It has continued to grow to meet the growing needs of the community.

The Service provides home help and supports the frail, aged and a growing number of young people with disabilities, to enable the residents to remain in their own homes and to access services in nearby Roxby Downs.
