Long-time supporters of Frontier Services Alan and Nancy Donald are still grateful for their chance meeting with Remote Area Nurse Vicki Finzel in Andamooka.

Alan and Nancy from Oatley Uniting Church in NSW were on a two-week Australia-wide tour with Heron Airlines last month when Alan suffered injuries to his right hand and right big toe.

The motel owners there suggested the local nurse would be able to take a look at Alan’s injuries.

After being picked up by Vicki and taken to the clinic, they were delighted to discover that Vicki belonged to the Frontier Services Andamooka Community Health Service.

“Vicki expertly changed the dressing on my wounded hand, gave us some extra dressings to take with us, and gave me good advice about my damaged toe,” Alan said.

After returning home, Alan wrote to Frontier Services to express his thanks for this chance meeting on his outback tour and for the care and expert attention he received from Vicki in Andamooka.

The encounter inspired him to give a further donation to Frontier Services which he requested to be directed to health care services.

Frontier Services’ remote health clinics are vital to meeting the medical needs of the local communities but they also provide health care to tourists, like Alan, who are visiting the area.

While these services receive government funding, donations pay for vital equipment and supplies which are needed day to day to continue providing health services.

Make a donation to Frontier Services to help us continue to provide essential care for people who live in and are visiting the outback.
